Dear Grace Academy Community,

Earlier this week, Governor Abbott extended school closures across the state until at least May 4th. Since that announcement, a number of states have announced their schools will remain closed for the remainder of the academic year.  Based on the information I have received from county and state officials, prudence will demand we continue with many social distancing initiatives through at least the end of May. If we are able to return to campus for the final week or two, I’m afraid the benefits gained academically over what is being accomplished through distance learning would be limited, and the benefits socially do not outweigh the greater risk.

Therefore, with sadness, I share that we will not return to classroom-based instruction this academic school year. Distance learning will continue through the last day of school – May 20th. All campus events for the remainder of the school year are cancelled, except Senior Gala and graduation. The families of our seniors will be involved in the evaluation of how best to honor our seniors through those two events.

I know many of you, like me, have been holding out hope that we would return for some number of weeks in May. This decision is disappointing for us all. However, our teachers and staff will continue with all their effort to serve your child(ren) and to ensure academic progress during our distance learning plan.

As we approach Holy Week, I truly hope all our students, parents, faculty and staff will be encouraged and trust that our resurrected Lord will make all things new, and nothing can separate us from His love.

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39.

Soli Deo Gloria.
