 February 1 - Last Date To Submit Application for Round One

Applications submitted between November and February 1 are considered at the same time by the Admission Committee. Round One is the season in which we have the most space available for new students.

Submit an online application with a non-refundable $150 fee. Within the application, parents submit an affirmation of faith and Christian testimony and also affirm agreement with Grace Academy’s Statement of Faith.  Once submitted, an Application Checklist will be created for your student.

 February 10 - Checklist Items Due

• Completed questionnaires from: 
  • teacher(s)
  • principal/school counselor
  • pastor/leader in your local, Bible-teaching church who knows the parent well 
  • church leader/ youth pastor for applicants to grades 7+
• Photo or pdf of student's official birth certificate 
• A copy of school records sent by student's school
• ISEE results for applicants to grades 6+ (review ISEE information below)

March 6 –Admission Notifications Sent By This Date

Admission Committee decisions for Round One are communicated via email and will be sent no later than March 6. When a grade is full, applicants who would otherwise be admitted will be offered a place in a wait pool. When a previously full grade has an opening due to a family move, for example,  all applicants in the wait pool for that grade will be considered.

For Applications Submitted After February 1

These applications will be processed on a rolling basis as the student's Application Checklist becomes complete.

Admission Committee decisions for Round Two are communicated via email and will be sent after scheduled Committee meetings.  When a grade is full, applicants who would otherwise be admitted will be offered a place in a wait pool. Student Shadow Day

To give students an opportunity to experience a day at Grace Academy, applicants to grades 1 and up participate in a Student Shadow Day during the admission process.

Educational Assessments

As part of the admission process, each applicant's educational foundation is assessed as outlined below. Results of the  assessment, along with all other application materials, are reviewed by the Admission Committee as part of the admission decision.

Applicants to Kindergarten
Children applying for Kindergarten will meet with our Head of Grammar School for 30-45 minutes; this meeting will focus on developmental readiness milestones. Review Kindergarten Readiness here. 

Applicants to 1st - 5th
Students meet with a teacher for their assessment, typically scheduled Monday - Thursday at 3:30 pm. 

Applicants to grade 6 and up
Please explore assessment information as soon as you are able! The Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) can require  planning ahead and student practice.  

Students can take the ISEE one time per testing season:  Fall (August through November),  Winter (December – March) and Spring/Summer (April – July). Students who are not accustomed to evaluations that measure how they think might consider investing in practice tests or testing twice (if time allows.)

During registration for the ISEE, use our school code (447600) to have ISEE results shared with Grace Academy, as only official scores are accepted.

To register for a test, create a new parent account here and provide the requested parent information. In addition to the events listed below, your child can take the ISEE a few ways: At-Home, at an Austin area school via the Austin Consortium, Testing Offices, or Prometric Test Centers. Testing fees, date options, and test format availability will vary by location.  

At-School paper/pencil ISEE testing is available on a limited basis for Grace Academy applicants.  Contact admissions@gracetx.org for the testing event codes for the four dates below.

If your family has applied for both admission and tuition assistance, we have a small number of ISEE fee waivers available. Please contact admissions@gracetx.org to request.

*Nota Bene: Potential high school applicants should contact the admission office prior to applying. 

The final step of the admission process is an interview.

Parent Interview: This is a vital part of the admissions process for both mother and father. The interview provides an opportunity for extended personal conversation as well as a time for questions. Prior to the interview both parents are required to read Dr. Christopher Perrin’s An Introduction to Classical Education: A Guide for Parents.

Student Interview: Upper school students applying to grades 6-12 will also participate in a student interview, usually scheduled during the Student Shadow Day.

For families who find the prospect of tuition financially daunting, Grace Academy sets aside a portion of its budget to help qualifying families with tuition costs. Families must apply for both admission and need-based tuition assistance at the same time through two separate applications. After an applicant is admitted, the family is then notified of any tuition assistance award. 

Applications for Tuition Assistance are considered at the same time as Admission Applications.  Qualifying families have the best chance at receiving tuition assistance if they apply in Round One.
