Grammar School Faculty
Mrs. Foote holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Portland State University and has a Texas Teacher Certification for Elementary Education 1st-8th grade and Early Childhood Education. After spending several years owning and directing her own childcare, she joined the faculty of Grace Academy in 2011 and enjoys creating a classroom environment that exudes joy in learning, peacefulness in routines, and enthusiasm for God’s creation.
Mrs. Hudson holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Education from Baylor University. She also has a Texas Teacher Certification for Physical Education at all grade levels. She has been a physical education teacher and coach for over 20 years and has taught at all levels from lower elementary to undergraduate college students. Mrs. Hudson has taught at Grace since 2009. In addition to teaching physical education to all Grammar students, she also provides invaluable leadership for Upper School students as she helps to organize student life events, mentor students, and cultivate student leadership, service, and spiritual growth.
Mrs. Hulsey holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Austin College and a M. Ed. from the University of Texas. She joined the faculty at Grace in 2018 and has over 12 years of teaching experience, including elementary grades and writing to middle school and high school students. Mrs. Hulsey loves to explore the fascinating ways that God has wired our brains and our thought processes and enjoys tapping into the earnest wonder that students bring to the classroom. She loves books and writing and is passionate about building strong foundations in students so that they may know our Creator, His Word and his world, and effectively communicate Truth. Mrs. Hulsey retreats to mountain or beach to read and to think as often as life allows.
Mrs. Kurtz holds Bachelor’s degrees in both Elementary Education and Special Education as well as an M.Ed. from Stephen F. Austin State University. She has over 40 years of teaching experience and joined Grace Academy in 2013. Every day Mrs. Kurtz’s students learn in a classroom characterized by order, peace, patience, and joy.
Born in Texas and raised on Lake Travis, Ms. Larue’s two children began at Grace Academy in 2001. With a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish from the University of Texas at San Antonio and deep fluency in the language, Ms. Larue has been teaching Spanish and Latin at home and in schools for over 20 years. She feels her calling as a teacher is to transform future generations for Christ and relishes the opportunity to weave together geography, history, words and the Word of God in classical classrooms. With a deep love for her students and a rich sense of curiosity, Ms. Larue returned to Grace in 2018 to teach Latin to Grammar School children.
Mrs. Sahm holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Biblical Studies from Maranatha Baptist Bible College. She has over 25 years of experience in the classroom and has taught at Grace since 2008. Mrs. Sahm also has worked as a Grammar School principal, and she uses the wisdom she has gleaned as a teacher and administrator both in her classroom and also in her role as a Grammar School lead teacher.
Mrs. Shell holds Bachelor’s degrees in both English and Speech Communications from Texas A&M University. She also has a Lifetime Texas Teacher Certification for Secondary Education, English, and Speech. Mrs. Shell has taught for over ten years as a Grammar and Upper School teacher, homeschooling mom, and children’s choir teacher. She has been at Grace Academy since 2014, and her classroom is full of joyful energy and the excitement of learning.
Ms. Sowers holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, an M.Ed. in Physical Education, and an Outdoor Education Specialist Certificate from Texas A&M University. She also has a Texas Teacher Certification for Early Childhood through 6th grade. She has experience teaching preschool and elementary students in a variety of contexts and joined Grace in 2016. Ms. Sowers loves to help students discover their own love of learning and particularly enjoys spending time outdoors in God’s creation.
Mrs. Sullivan holds a Bachelors in Elementary Education and Masters in Curriculum and Instruction, both from Illinois State University. Over the past 18 years, she has taught various subject areas and grade levels in addition to teaching private piano lessons. Mrs. Sullivan joined Grace Academy in 2019. She is currently also the Children’s Minister at Main Street Baptist Church, where her husband, John is the Pastor of Worship and Missions. She accompanies a variety of choral groups, loves music, teaching children about Jesus, coffee, and all sorts of crafts.
Mrs. Thomas completed coursework at Mesa Community College and Arizona State University. She has over 20 years of experience as a Grammar School teacher and homeschooling mom and has taught at Grace since 2003. Her kindergarten classroom is always full of joy and life as students explore and discover all the wonders of God’s creation. Mrs. Thomas has a particular passion for art and has hosted workshops to train other teachers how to integrate art projects into early Grammar education.
Mrs. Ueckert holds a bachelors degree from Texas A&M University in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education. She has a Lifetime Certification to teach pre-k through 6th grade. Mrs. Ueckert homeschooled for 7 years, taught in public school for 7 years and has over 20 years experience teaching children in a church setting. Mrs. Ueckert joined the Grace Academy faculty in 2018 and loves to see children enjoy learning and discover more about God through His creation and His Word.
Jennifer Van Delinder
Mrs. Van Delinder holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Music as well as an M.Ed. in Special Education from Bob Jones University. She has over 15 years of experience as a classroom and music teacher and has taught at Grace since 2013. Mrs. Van Delinder brings a smile and love of learning that are contagious to both her colleagues and students.
